These days, humidifiers for residential and commercial settings seem to be all the range. People who suffer from sore throat, dry eyes, skin problems, and other conditions usually consider investing in a humidifier of their own.
No matter how hard you mop the floors and how often you vacuum the rugs and dust the furniture, your home is not really safe to live in unless you are using an efficient humidifier. Here are a few things you should consider before buying replacing your old Bionaire humidifier filter with a new one.
Cleaning the filter
Bionaire recommends users to clean their filter at least once a week in order to extend its life. To keep your humidifier in optimal condition, it is also best to replace your Bionaire humidifier filter every two to four months.
Aside from improving your health, a humidifier will also protect your furniture from the damage caused by excessive humidity. However, a humidifier with a dirty or damaged filter will be less efficient in keeping healthy humidity levels in your home so you have to clean its filter regularly.
The first step you need to take when cleaning a Bionaire humidifier filter is to turn off your humidifier and unplug it from the wall outlet. After this, you can already open the front door of the humidifier to expose the pre-filter.
Remove the pre-filter and gently wash it by hand in a combination of gentle dish soap and warm water. Rinse the filter well by soaking it in clean water and they allow it to dry by pressing it between the folds of a clean hand towel. Once you have done these steps, you can already return the Bionaire humidifier filter to the unit.
Replacing the filter
Sometimes, a Bionaire humidifier filter needs more than just cleaning. Sediment and minerals will slowly build up in the filter so it is only normal to replace it every two to four months. However, it can be hard to know if the filter only needs some cleaning or already needs replacement.
To find out if you already need to replace the filter, turn on the humidifier and check the filter monitor near the outlet. If the light stays on for sixty seconds after you turned the unit on, you have to change the filter as soon as possible.
If it seems like your Bionaire humidifier filter already needs replacement, you have to turn off and unplug the unit. Open the door of the humidifier by lifting the tab on the left side of the filter door. Take out the humidifier filter that you will find inside and throw it away. Slowly insert a new Bionaire humidifier filter in place of the old one and close the filter door.
